Imagine a phone that has:
- fm transmitter
- video output interface
- a Linux operating system (without android-like policy)
- possibility to gain root with factory Application Manager
- a terminal app that goes pre-installed
You’d think, that no company would manufacture something like this. Meanwhile Your average consoomer friend who praises Apple might say, that nobody would buy phone like this one. However there is one phone like that - Nokia N900! It’s pretty old phone - which is no longer sold, and the manufacturer no longer manufactures User Equipment devices - they do rather base stations for future wireless communications.
Miraciously enough, the OS is still developed till this day - instead of Nokia, by the Open-source community. It was my huge dream to get one of this devices!
In next posts, I’ll show You how to install a Maemo Leste - still maintained OS for N900.
